About Peter

I started learning the guitar when I was almost 17 years old. I had taken GCSE Music as a subject in which you could get away with being noisy, and soon enough, I realised that I had to actually be able to play an instrument! The teacher asked every person in the room what they played and when it got to me, I glanced around the room for an idea. That’s when I saw the guitar propped up against the desk. Aha, I play the guitar! Getting home, I explained to my parents that I HAD to learn how to play the guitar. And I guess the rest is history!

By the time I was 19, I had acquired my grade 8 electric guitar with the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT). I am now a fully registered teacher with them.

I have also participated in the Medway Young Musicians Awards in which I got through to the finals and just missed out on 1st place. I have done many concerts and a memory I will never forget was playing guitar with Tommy Emmanuel on my 16th birthday. He pulled me onstage at his concert, handed me his guitar and gave me the stage while he went and sat down in my seat in the audience!

After I left sixth form, I started teaching at my school (RMGS) where I built up a good number of guitar students who all were enjoying the guitar immensely. I also set up an after school ‘guitar club’ which built up well and had performed at many school concerts.
